Hearty Waffles

This recipe has many good nutrients from oats and whole wheat flour.

Prep Time: 5 minutes Cooking Time: About 20 minutes (Really depends on your Waffle Iron)

Ingredients

  • 1/2 cup old-fashioned oats
  • 1/2 cup of whole wheat flour
  • 1/2 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon of salt
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • 1/2 teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • 1 1/2 cups of low-fat milk
  • 2 eggs
  • 1/2 teaspoon vamilla extract
  • 1 cup of fresh blueberries
  • 4 tablespoons maple syrup

Directions

  1. Blend together the oats, whole wheat flour, all-purpose flour, baking powder, and salt in a medium bowl until powdery. Add the sugar, cinnamon nutmeg, milk, eggs, and vanilla extract. Blend until smooth.
  2. Heat a waffle iron and coat well with cooking spray. Cook the waffles in the waffle iron.
  3. Serve each waffle with 1/4 cup blueberries and 1 table-spoon maple syrup.
